What is the Asexual Flag?
So you’ve probably seen those gorgeous black, gray, white, and purple stripes during Pride Month, but do you know the actual story behind the asexual flag?
Back in 2010, this amazing community effort led to the creation of what would become the iconic asexual flag. The ace community wanted their own symbol of visibility and pride, separate from the general rainbow flag. The four colors were chosen super intentionally: the black represents asexuality, the gray represents gray-asexuality and demisexuality, the white represents sexuality, and that purple stripe represents community.
These days, you’ll see the asexual flag at pride parades, LGBTQ+ events, worn by ace people and allies who want to show their support for asexual visibility and acceptance.
LGBTQIA+ Gift and Care Instructions
Struggling to find the perfect asexual gift or LGBTQ+ present? This asexual pride pin is a thoughtful choice. It’s perfect for friends who just came out as ace (supportive without being overwhelming), or honestly just because you want to brighten someone’s day and show you support asexual visibility. Just gently wipe it with a clean, dry cloth when it gets dusty and store it somewhere cool and dry when you’re not wearing it.
FAQ
Is this a good gift for someone who’s still figuring things out? This asexual flag pin is a great supportive gift because it shows acceptance and love without any pressure.
Can I wear this if I’m not asexual? Absolutely! Allies wearing asexual flag pins helps increase asexual visibility and shows support for the ace community. Just make sure you’re actually showing up as an ally in other ways too!
